Case history: Advaith, a working professional, had a night job that sometimes lasted up to 5 am. Due to this, his sleep cycle always remained disturbed. He recently underwent heart surgery and was on a few medications to help with his heart health. His blood reports showed inflammation in his body with high triglyceride levels. After analysing his routine and food diary, we saw that his dietary pattern was deficient in optimum protein and vegetables, creating an imbalance in his nutritional needs. Due to night shifts, he would feel hungry through the night. Therefore, we designed a customised meal plan with appropriate macronutrient ratios to support his body needs and health goals and incorporate ease in his night shifts. We Gave him heavy nutritious dinners, which included chicken, fish, salads and chapati to keep him going till early morning. We also suggested consuming green juice post-dinner to help stay focused and avoid lethargy. We kept his breakfast light for easy digestion, such as yoghurt fruit bowls, eggs with veggies, quinoa or oats upma, etc., so he sleeps peacefully after the meal. His lunch was delicious and comforting, such as salad bowls, millet, curries, tofu, etc., followed by a small snack in the evening, such as nuts and seeds, prunes, chana, etc., to meet his nutritional needs and achieve a healthy meal gap. We also suggested an exercise regime and incorporated waking in the evening to support his physical and mental health. We suggested a moderate protein diet with many vegetables and complex carbs to meet his fibre and micronutrient needs. All homemade meals with high nutritional value were suggested. Millets, tofu, chicken, fish, quinoa, oats, and vegetables in salads and curries were given, healthy fats in nuts and seeds, and yoghurt was incorporated. Constant guidance and support were given, and real-time monitoring was done.



Result:

With our support and guidance, he lost 11.5 kg in 3 months. His triglycerides reduced from 208 to 89 and cholesterol from 141 to 55.
