You can beat your acidity issues without taking antacids and lose weight with increased energy levels through appropriate nutrition support

CASE STUDY & SUCCESS STORIES

Name: Shehnaaz

Gender: Female

Location: Dubai

BMI: 34.62

Case history: Shehnaaz, a customer experience executive, has been trying to lose weight for a very long time. She tried every possible diet, including intermittent fasting, to achieve her health goals, but she ended up feeling lethargic, and her gut health got worse. She faced frequent episodes of acidity and gastric reflux throughout the day, for which she consumed antacids every day. Shehnaaz used to eat very little due to fear of gaining weight and worrying about her acidity getting triggered. This triggered severe leg pains, which did not allow her to stand for long hours. She used to take painkillers to relieve her leg pains. She looked forward to improving her acidity and weight loss through proper nutrition support and methods.

Approach by the best weight loss nutritionist/dietician in Hyderabad, Telangana, India, Deepika Chalasani:

After analysing her food diary, we saw that she used to skip breakfast and would eat her first meal around noon, which was simple carbs such as dhal rice, sambar rice, and curry rice. Her severe acidity caused her fear of consuming protein in her meals. There were long gaps between her meals throughout the day. Her food intake and macronutrient ratios were incorrect, causing difficulty in losing weight and triggering her acidity issues, which also affected her metabolism and energy levels. Hence, we designed a personalised plan for her, considering her health goals and nutritional needs. We provided supplements and appropriate foods to combat her dietary deficiencies, such as vitamin D, magnesium, zincoid and B12 for better weight loss.

We suggested she consume small and frequent meals such as oats and diluted almond milk. We gave her vegan meals rich at the start of the plan as it was easy to digest and introduced foods such as tofu, ragi, quinoa, weak buttermilk, oats, fruits and vegetables in the form of soups or boiled form. As she started to digest food better, we introduced healthy fats such as nuts and seeds and a small portion of aged cheese as it was easy to carry as a snack and, soothing to the gut and would give her the much-needed satiety and a feeling of fullness during the long hours of work. All the foods provided to her were soothing to the gut and were anti-inflammatory to help with her acidity issues. We suggested she consume enough water and fluids throughout the day. Slowly and steadily, we introduced good quality non-veg protein such as bone broths, anti-inflammatory grass-fed meat and beef, fish in small portions, and sufficient portions of soft vegetables to ensure that it did not cause any acid reflux or gastritis. We also suggested that her exercise regime be suitable for her routine and body type, including home-based online stretching programs, yoga, breathwork, and home videos. We also included her favourite foods more healthily. All her meals were palatable and nourishing. Real-time monitoring support and coaching were provided to her.

Result:

Within two weeks, she no longer required antacids. Due to correct eating behaviour and lifestyle practices, her frequency of acidity was drastically reduced. She lost 5 kg in 1.5 months. She had never done Ramadan fasting before, but for the first time, she did it without any discomfort. Her energy levels and stamina significantly improved. Her washroom cycles improved. Her eating patterns and food intake improved.
