Sustainable & mindful eating helps you enjoy your favourite food & weight loss journey

Name: Keyur

Age: 28 years

Gender: Male

Location: Switzerland

BMI: 34.5 kg/m2

Case History: Keyur has a family history of heart condition.his recent blood reports showed high levels of triglycerides, LDL, and fatty liver. They were planning to have a baby and, therefore, keen to work on their health first. Since he was already obese, he also wanted us to help him with the weight loss. According to him, he was eating healthy, but he could not control his hunger pangs and used to end up snacking and binge eating. He was also experiencing digestive health issues, such as bloating and feeling lethargic every time he started following a diet. Hence, he was looking for a sustainable approach to healthy eating, which would also help improve his overall health.

Approach by the best weight loss nutritionist in Hyderabad, Telangana: When we analysed his dietary recall and pattern of food consumption, we realised that he used to eat fast and lost control of his portion size. Most of the time, he would opt for food options that did not require chewing, like sambar rice, curd rice, and idlis with sambar. He felt that they are heart-friendly since they are easier to digest. We educated him on his blood reports and explained that apart from obesity, he ate food and followed a lifestyle that caused fat accumulation in the arteries. As his insulin factor of LDL/triglycerides was high, and he had a grade 2 fatty liver condition, we curated a meal plan with a combination of efficient optimum lean protein, complex carbs-rich fibre, and lots of vegetables and fruits. We also educated him on choosing food options that required proper chewing and the gut-brain connection needed to help him feel satiated. He is a non-vegetarian and loves meat. Hence, we taught him to eat it mindfully and use portion control for protein portions. Since they are a young working couple, not comfortable with elaborate meals and would take time in the kitchen, we helped them with easy recipes. Our constant monitoring and real-time guidance through the programs helped him sail through his nutrition journey. Since he did not have a healthy gut, we gave him food he could tolerate without feeling uneasy. He was also advised to take Vit. D and B12 supplements to heal his gut.

Results: In 2 months, after making lifestyle changes, he lost 10 kgs, triglyceride levels reduced significantly from 333 mg/dl to 134 mg/dl. His good cholesterol, i.e. HDL, increased from 27 mg/dl to 32 mg/dl, and his LDL cholesterol reduced from 230 mg/dl to 193 mg/dl. Encouraged by the results, he continued to follow the programs, lost 25 kgs in 8 months, and has been maintaining it.
