CASE STUDY & SUCCESS STORIES
Name- Padma
Age- 42 years
BMI-15.6 Kg/m2 (underweight)
Location- Hyderabad
Case history-Padma is a homemaker, a mother of 2 kids and hails from a middle-class family. Since she was underweight, she was not able to stay active throughout the day. She would be so exhausted from doing housework for a while that she would take an hour's nap before continuing with the remaining daily tasks. She also experienced significant pain and weakness during her menstrual cycles in addition to having dull skin and poor gut health that would lead her to visit the washroom after every meal.
Analysis by the best dietician in Telangana, India- Her blood reports showed she was malnourished, anemic, had poor gut health, and low Vitamin D.
Approach by the best dietician in Telangana, India- We noticed she would graze throughout the day eating quick energy foods like biscuits, nuts and dry fruit ladoo to give her some energy for a short while. She ate very little vegetables and protein so we educated her on how to eat a balanced diet and gave her foods from IBS green list. We suggested she eat modest, scheduled meals throughout the day that were both hunger-inducing and nourishing because she didn't have much of an appetite for large meals. We offered her two to three portions of fruit because they would instantly provide her energy and also contain other essential components for her health. We focused on easy-to-digest vegetables in the form of sautéed vegetables and soups. As she is vegetarian, we gave her good vegetarian proteins in small portions which are easy to digest like homemade paneer, cheese, tofu, whole dhal cheela, pancakes, protein shakes, yogurt, and almond milk that would give her consistent energy through the day and improve her skin. When she complained of bloating, constipation, and gastric problems, we checked if she consumed any foods from the IBS red list and minimized whole grains from her meals. We taught her how to eat mindfully when she traveled and while attending social gatherings. We also introduced good fats like ghee and dates seeds ladoo that improved her gut health and anemic conditions. She took Vitamin D supplements once a week to reverse deficiency. We advised her to stay active throughout the day and drink 2-3 liters of water daily. As her creatinine levels were in a good range, her protein consumption slowly and steadily increased from 0.8 grams per ideal body weight to 1 gram per ideal body and to 1.2 grams per ideal body weight by the end of 4th month.
Result: Padma gained a healthy weight of 4 kgs in 5 months and improved her energy levels drastically. She was able to comfortably work through the day managing all her household chores with ease. Wholesome, nourishing easy-to-digest vegetables, fruits, lean protein, and good fats transformed her dull skin to a natural glow from within. The IBS condition reversed gradually and she is able to tolerate a variety of foods which she couldn’t earlier. Bowel movements were limited to once a day and periods were no longer painful and draining. She recently had to plan a huge function requiring a lot of movements through the day, and despite the fact that it was close to her menstrual cycle, she spent the entire day moving around without experiencing any energy loss. She did not have any exhaustion after the event, either. She is happy to have reached her ideal health and learned how to maintain it.
