Approach by the best clinical nutritionist, Telangana, India:

We started by correcting his diet to ensure no hunger pangs or cravings in the evening. A customized nutrition plan with a macronutrient ratio of 43:18:39 was suggested which were suitable according to his health goals. Since he used to eat less in order to get a weight loss, we educated him on the concepts of eating less and weight gain and how hunger pangs happen. As he was doing intermittent fasting where he ate from 1pm to 7pm, which was causing starvation and increasing hunger pangs and cravings, we suggested him to continue with intermittent fasting but with a breakfast starting at 9:30am and dinner ending at 7 pm.. We suggested him to consume wholesome fibre and protein rich breakfast as it works best in order to break the overnight fast. Fruits, Eggs with vegetables and cheese was given to ensure light but sumptuous breakfast that would give him energy, hunger free and eliminate his cravings in the evenings. Appropriate gaps between all meals along with wholesome balanced meals were maintained for him in order to provide consistent energy levels. Lots of vegetables were incorporated in the form of salads, green rotis, sauté veggies and soups. This would add to optimum heart health. It also allowed optimum fiber and micronutrient intake. Carbohydrate quality in the form of complex carbohydrates was taken care of throughout the meal plan to eliminate the risk of increased sugar levels. He used to feel hungry around the evening time and hence we suggested healthy fats and protein rich snacks such as nuts, dry fruits and hummus to subside the hunger pangs. Light nutrient dense meal options fromthe fit4life kitchen like mutton bone soup, minestrone soup, protein nachos, healthy fat murukkus were provided to him to take care of his hunger in the evening and to ensure that he did not feel hungry though he was working late at night. protein in the form of chicken, eggs were suggested to ensure it suited his palette, taste buds and comfort in execution of the program. As he used to work till late, we gave him options of a small snack around just in case he had late night cravings due to long working hours at nights. Continuous monitoring was done in order to check his hunger levels, cravings, food liking etc. in order to make modifications in his approach accordingly. We taught him about mindful eating and how it helps to do a portion control and allow optimum nutrient absorption in the body. We rectified his physical activity schedules to aid weight loss such as walking for 30-45 mins every day. Constant support and guidance was provided and his health and pleasure balance was done.
