Case History:Suresh, came to us with a heart condition called cardiomyopathywhich reduced his heart rate and therefore required a pace maker .In order to undergo pacemaker surgery to correct his condition, his doctor asked him to lose at least 10 kgs weight. When he came to us, his weight was 105kgs. .As per doctor’s advice, he was asked to eliminate salt in his meals, was allowed to have upto2litres of daily consumption of waterfor his condition and was only allowed basic lifestyle movements. He was also on medication to enhance the pumping of the heart.


Approach by the best dietitian in Hyderabad, Telangana, India: A whole team was involved working on his approach. A protocol was maintained. Real time monitoring was done. We incorporated a diet that helped reduce the load on heart and at the same time strengthen the heart muscle and give him enough energy to manage a hectic lifestyle of an IT professional.. It was designed according to his body type and health goal. We designed his protein intake to 0.7g per kg body weight and gave a 1500kcal diet... Also, his water intake was limited to less than 2litres per day which includes water in his food. Hence, we suggested him mutton bone soup which is a super food that enhances the heart functioning along with water rich fruits and vegetables so that he does not feel dehydrated and thirsty. The portion of grains were reduced from his diet as the structure of grains tend to increase water retention in the body. His plan was customized to 2 meals and one snack throughout the day to aid in TRE (time restricted eating) that enables autophagy and is a recommended approach for rejuvenation of organ health. Green rotis, super seed packs, mutton bone soup which are heart friendly were provided from fit4life kitchen. He successfully lost 10 kgs in 40 days and thereforewent for pace maker surgery. He was able to successfully recover from the surgery in 10 days with nutritional support that easily digestible super foods. Post the surgery, he was allowed to start mild physical activity andincrease his lifestyle movements. Therefore, from a strictly therapeutic diet, we started including some of his favorite food and comfort food. Results:

He lost 18kgs within 4 months. After losing 10kgs, he was able to go for his heart surgery. Post-surgery, within weeks he was able to started walking and followed a suggested exercise regime. He was able to recover quickly from the surgery and was able to enjoy his favourite meals along with physical activity. He is able to maintain his heart health now through a balanced nutrition support and exercise.
