CASE STUDY & SUCCESS STORIES

Name: Saloni
Age: 32
BMI: 28

Case History: Saloni is a spinster in Canada. She had gained over 20 kgs during the pandemic. After that, decided to eat clean, followed intermittent fasting and as a result lost 15 kgs over a period of 6 months. She came to us after she lost 15 kgs but none of her health conditions like irregular & painful periods, constipation, bloating, and uncontrollable cravings were resolved.

Earlier she used to have her periods twice or thrice in a year even being on medications. She also contacted a few Nutritionists & dieticians in Canada, but nothing worked for her as she didn’t get the support she needed. She would get cravings and would have to use her will power; at one point she could not control her will power and ended up with an emotional eating episode which mostly happened later in the evening.

Analysis by top clinical nutritionist in India: We analysed her food consumption and identified that she was having clean home cooked meals but there wasn’t sufficient fibre in her meals. Moreover, her day was starting with quick digesting carbs & large part of the proteins were consumed towards the end of the day which did not support her body type. We analysed that her body was not able to tolerate eggs in the first meal of the day and she was also sensitive to a few cruciferous vegetables and gluten, which led to a great deal of discomfort right after its consumption.

Approach: Our focus was to give her a meal that would curb her cravings and keep her full for hours without requiring any will power. Since she is a spinster all by herself in a foreign country, we planned a diet which supported her hectic work schedule along with following a time restrictive eating which worked best for her body type. For the first time she was able to sustain a schedule comfortably.

We focused on improving her digestive health through time restricted eating, sufficient fibre, adequate protein in every meal so that she felt light and energetic through the day. We included healthy snacks that took care of occasional cravings. As we gradually reintroduced foods that she was sensitive to, she started noticing that there was no discomfort and felt lighter after having meals.
We guided & supported her to begin with an exercise regimen that fit appropriately in her busy schedule.

Results: Within 20 days of the program, she got her menstrual cycle which lasted for 6 days. She observed her cramps or bloating during her periods had reduced significantly. By the 3rd month, her menstrual cycle got regularised and would occur every 35-40 days without any medications. Her PMS before the menstrual cycle disappeared and she was able to continue to with all her daily engagements without any discomfort.

Within 2 months, she lost 4 kilos, and came down by 2 dress sizes. For the first time, she was able to enjoy the health journey and sustain it without any disconcert as she was educated on how to balance health and her pleasure foods.
