Case History: Lalitha, a senior citizen, was overweight and had uncontrolled diabetes despite being on 70 units of insulin for several years. Her children are living in the USA and therefore she was afraid of taking on a nutrition program to support her health as she had to do it all by herself. Her fasting sugar level was at an all-time high of 392mg/dl and that’s when her family convinced her to try a nutrition program. She was also suffering from several other health conditions like BP, thyroid, IBS, arthritis and frequent episodes of fever for which she was taking multiple medications which made her weak and reduce her mobility significantly. Her lipid profile had a lot of parameters outside of the range such as triglycerides of 231mg/dl, which indicated heart risk. She needed to take injections every month to reduce her knee pains and inflammation. Poor gut health and IBS did not allow her to have sufficient fibre in her meals which were very essential to reduce her sugar levels. Her doctor also asked her to reduce 15 kgs to support her health conditions.

She is no longer required to take knee injections as per her doctor, and her inflammation is in check. She saw a drastic change in her blood reports as well. Her fasting sugar level dropped to 132mg/dl in 2 months and her TG levels came down to 160mg/dl and further reduced to 78 in 6 months. There was a significant rise in HDL levels to 54mg/dl. Her IBS and digestion issues were resolved. Great improvement in her mood swings, hunger pangs and energy levels was seen.
