Case History:Sreelatha, a software engineer approached us to help her increase her energy levels and build her stamina and lose weight. She is a eggetarian and is lactose intolerant. She also had hypothyroid condition. All her weight loss methods were leaving her tired and fatigued and not giving any weight loss results despite trying various approaches. She is a software professional and used to perform Bharatanatyam dance as a hobby and put up performances in her free time. Over a period of time, she wasn’t able to practice for her performances due to lack of stamina and energy which made her frustrated. She further had frequent acidity episodes which caused hindrance to her overall work output and her dance routine as well.

Analysis by best clinical nutritionist: Past history, dietary recall and lifestyle choices. Her blood reports were within the range however; her Vitamin D levels were quite low.

Approach by best clinical nutritionist / dietician: We analyzed her food diary and saw that her diet was lacking adequate protein and essential vitamins and mineral which was leading to fatigue and irritability which further impacted her work. Since she is an eggetarian, lactose intolerant & had a history of acidity, so we gave her efficient lean protein which was also gut healing viz. hemp, kefir, soy isolate shake, edamame etc. We ensured she consumed a diversity of vegetables every day and helped her with execution methods that would make it convenient for her to prepare her meals. We further included essential fats in her diet which help in absorption of nutrients in the body and boosts immunity and reduces inflammation in the body. We included miso soup along with tofu in her diet as a good protein source. We advised her to include a variety of easy to digest cooked vegetables which were soothing for her gut like viz carrots, beans, the Indian traditional gourdsetc to help her reduce her acidity. We introduced other light watery vegetables with less fiber like mushrooms , zucchini, cucumbers .one by one in small portions to check for her food tolerance . Since she was complaining of low energy and fatigue, we gave her a sumptuous breakfast of adequate protein to help her kick start the day with energy. We also suggested her to follow an exercise regimen to boost her stamina.

Results: After following the program consistently, she was able to see the improvements in her energy levels. She was able to lose 5 kgs of weight and that too even after attending multiple conferences and work trips. She was able to practice for 3 hours continuously without feeling very tired and fatigued. Her energy levels improved significantly and she was able to perform Bharatanatyam for 1 hour straight without feeling any fatigue.
