CASE STUDY & SUCCESS STORIES

Name: Padmini
Age: 51 years
Sex: Female

Diagnosis by best clinical nutritionist / dietician in Hyderabad India: Specific blood reports, dietary history and lifestyle choices. Her recent medical report showed a huge increase in TSH, low Vitamin D levels, elevated cholesterol levels, border line diabetes and lower iron levels. It was observed from her dietary recall that she had protein deficiency more specifically inadequate leucine was not helping her lose weight. As a result of lack of fiber in her diet, she also had gastric issues.

Case history: Padmini had struggled with hypothyroidism for over 20 years however, her TSH level never went above 5 but recently her TSH level spiked to 11.5 which was an alarming situation for her. Padmini has been struggling to lose weight for the last 7 years. She was eating clean and was extremely conscious of her food intake yet she was gaining weight. She had given up all the hope to ever lose weight until she saw her sister who at age of 56 successfully lost 6 kgs, got to her ideal weight and reversed all her medical conditions with our support. Inspired by our support to her sister, she decided to try weight loss program one last time. Earlier she thought that the fats were bad and high on calories and would cause weight gain so, she had eliminated all good fats also from her diet, which was reflected in her knee pains and cracking sounds. She had her menopause after which she started gaining weight that became difficult to get rid of. Her hypothyroid condition made it even more difficult for her to lose weight consequently, her knee pain started increasing.

Treatment by best nutritionist / dietician in Hyderabad, India: We gave her a balanced meal plan with adequate protein which had sufficient leucine, good fats and reduced the glycemic load of her food consumption in every meal by increasing the quantity & variety of vegetables every day. Since she is a working woman and has limited time in the kitchen, we gave her quick ways to ensure consistency and diversity of vegetables in her diet Since her meals were balanced with adequate protein, it helped her body go into fat burning mode and ensured that there was no muscle loss. We also ensured that she took sufficient supplements for vitamin D and omega 3 in order to reduce her pains, We monitored her water intake and educated her on adequate water intake which would help her boost her metabolism.

Results: By following the prescribed diet routinely, Padmini was amazed to see 3 kg weight loss in a month and 9 kgs in 4 months (check the post and make the data consistent) and a significant inch loss (drop of 3 sizes). She was also able to reduce her TSH levels from 11 to 2.83 within a span of 5 months. Her bad cholesterol levels reduced significantly and her good cholesterol increased. With adequate protein and good fats in her diet along with effective supplementation, her knee pains and crackling on the knee disappeared. The suggested diet improved her energy levels greatly and also strengthened her digestive health.
