CASE STUDY & SUCCESS STORIES

Name: Sunita

Age: 49

BMI: 29.3 (obese)

Location: Hyderabad, India

Case History: Sunita is a homemaker and a socialite who has been trying to lose weight and improve her lifestyle for a long time. Her weight gain was stubborn due to her thyroid condition and other lifestyle-related routines. She was detected with high cholesterol and triglyceride levels in her last medical check-up. Since she is the wife of an industrialist, she travels a lot, nationally and internationally. She travels 15-18 days a month, making it challenging to eat properly and maintain her health. Her travelling was getting tiresome and difficult due to various factors such as poor gut health, feeling fatigue all the time, confusion in choosing appropriate foods, managing sleep and also looking presentable all the time, which made her gain weight. She was looking for a program that would help make her travel and overall health fun, smooth, and sustainable.

Approach by the best clinical nutritionist in Hyderabad, Telangana, India:

After analysing her food diary, we saw that her diet was nutritionally deficient in protein and other essential micronutrients such as iron and calcium. There were long gaps between her meals, which lacked variety, leading to poor gut health such as acidity, constipation and bloating. She could not manage her eating patterns since she needed better knowledge of choosing the right foods for her travel location and daily schedules. Hence, we started by giving her personalised coaching on travelling guidelines, mindfulness techniques, conscious eating, and appropriate food choices per her body needs and health goals. We suggested she undertake a food intolerance test and food allergy test to understand the food items that were unsuitable for her body and causing indigestion, leading to poor gut health. Hence, we carefully designed a customised nutrition plan where we eliminated all trigger foods, such as dairy products and included foods which she could tolerate, such as meat, seafood, legumes, seasonal fruits and vegetables, complex carbs and seeds, and also taking into account her travelling schedules, location, and her meal timings as well. Optimum protein suitable to her gut, such as chicken and fish, was advised. Healthy fats, such as nuts and seeds, dates, etc., were suggested for optimum insulin activity. We ensured that her favourite foods were included in her plan but in a healthier version. We customised her plan for the days when she was not travelling and at home. Her meal plan also supported her diverse travel plans. We taught her how to plate her food during social gatherings and celebrations. We included enough vegetables, fibre and protein in her meal to bring down her cholesterol levels. All her meals had balanced macronutrients while focusing on enough protein intake to minimise her hunger and food cravings. We ensured appropriate gaps between her meals through mindfulness techniques. We also suggested foods from Shvasa (fit4life India's signature foods) so that it becomes easy for her to consume her meals and meet her daily nutrient requirements. We gave her a counselling session on conscious and mindful eating techniques whenever required to choose the right foods depending on the location of her travel. Real-time monitoring support was given to achieve optimum results.

Results:

She lost almost 10kgs in 6 months despite continuous travel to the US, Germany and various rural and urban areas of India. She started seeing a shift in her eating pattern and hormonal activity. She felt energised, calm and lively. Gradually, she learned to make appropriate food choices per her travel plans. The mindfulness techniques helped ease her travelling and eating patterns. The cherry on the cake was that she could lose weight sustainably and bring down her triglyceride levels from 276 to 162 and her LDL levels from 157 to 89.6, despite the travelling chaos and indulging in pleasure foods.
