Case history- Divya, a mother of 2 young children had gained weight over a period of time. She tried various methods to maintain her health but she was gaining weight instead of losing it. Even after doing minimum exercises, her body pains—particularly in her legs—would only become worse. She tried taking paracetamol and doing light stretches to alleviate the pain but in vain. Additionally, she was exhausted, which made it very challenging for her to get through the day without being irritated.

Approach by the best dietitian in Telangana- As she was already fatigued throughout the day, we made minimal changes that were energizing and nutrient dense one step at a time. We added fruit and included eggs to her existing carb breakfast to make her meal complete. However, we had to quickly switch back to some refined foods like white rice as her pains started to creep into her life again due to the non-absorption of nutrients. We recommended she take adequate supplementation with iron, vitamin D, and B complex vitamins as well as quick-digesting carbohydrates like white rice. We introduced iron-rich foods along with iron-absorbing enhancers like Vitamin C to eliminate her Iron deficiency. Vitamin D and B complex supplements healed her digestive system. She initially felt tired and hungry as the foods would digest soon leaving her lethargic. We slowly introduced whole foods as well as advised her to increase the intensity of her exercises. With our guidance, she was able to sustain her weight while enjoying festivals like Dussera, Diwali, and other social gatherings without her pains reverting back.

Results: Divya’s body pains gradually subsided within weeks. Her energy levels also improved and she lost 7-8 kgs by achieving her goals with much ease. She was able to go for long walks, runs and stretches without any discomfort. She continued to sustain and maintain her weight while attending social events like Navrathri and Diwali and she was happy to fit into dresses she never thought she might wear.
